Brand Identity 2021

Nirvana Brewery Co. Visual Identity

Visual identity and can packaging for a fictional brewery, created as a portfolio concept.

Nirvana Brewery Co. Visual Identity cover

Nirvana Brewery Co. is a fictional company created for portfolio presentation. It was imagined as a brewery started by two young college friends who love beer and want to start their own brewery with their own flavours and crafts, targeting young, creative people like them.

The concept

Three ideas guided the brand: a different world, psychedelic and sacred. They show up in the logo, the packaging and the typography.

Typeface and color

The packaging sticks to a theme of psychedelic, sacred, different-world patterns, built from vibrant colors so the final can looks like psychedelic abstract art. Typography pairs Acumin Variable Concept with Monoton for the wordmark. The palette is four colors: midnight blue (#202458), amber (#F9A11B), sky blue (#0BB9E9) and red (#ED2927).

Design process

To understand the client thoroughly, we created a stylescape: a way to show the client how a brand will look and feel.

Visual identity system

The visual identity system includes can packaging, a business card and letterhead, a color palette and typefaces.

Geometric patterns made of circles, arcs and triangles repeat across the stationery. Business cards, letterhead and envelopes sit on midnight blue, and each piece crops the same pattern differently, so no two cards look exactly alike.

Can designs

The can is where the pattern does its work. One bold arrangement of arcs and leaves wraps around the can, with the name, flavour and 6.6% alc/vol on a clear band.

Flavours

Five flavours in two tiers. The premium pair, Heaven and Afterlife, step away in a light and a dark colorway. The standard line is Bliss in amber, Kingdom in red and Fresh start in sky blue, each swapping a single accent color on the same midnight blue can.

The identity reaches the bottle cap and the glass too, with an N monogram inside a ring that reads “Nirvana Brewery Co.”.
